The largest urban cableway network grew even larger at the end of January 2018: The orange line has been completed and, together with the previously-opened red line, now forms a 10-kilometer-long continuous route. Bolivia’s President Evo Morales is proud of another successful milestone in building this record-breaking cableway which also represents a hugely prestigious project for his Andean country. By 2019, this inner-city cableway network should have ten lines; their 1,400 cabins will operate round the clock, 365 days a year, on a 30-kilometer-long route.

More space for people

Passengers travelling on the Línea Naranja can use four stations to get on and off the cableway. The station Plaza Villarroel is really special: it is the first cableway station located underneath a public place. As a result, people have more clear space in the city. The white line is also linked with the orange line, here, in this underground station.

A new record
stadt

Just a few days after being opened, the new line set a remarkable new record which was celebrated: on 16th November, at 6.40 a.m., Mi Teleférico greeted the 100-millionth passenger. He was travelling along the Línea Roja, the first cableway line, opened in 2014. But this wonderful success story is to be continued: three more cableway lines are either in the planning phase or already being implemented.
